Hats off to your spirit and of course your journey. I am a beauty and lifestyle blogger from India. And I also try to campaign for animal friendly and at the same time eco-friendly beauty products. I am highly impressed by your and all of your group member’s efforts. It would be great, if I could join you. May I?

Hi, I just came across your article as I was shopping for cruelty-free coconut oil. I share your sentiment about using animals for labor and I am trying my hardest to do my own due diligence. Would you happen to know if the Kirkland brand coconut oil made by Costco is cruelty free? Here’s the link for your reference: https://www.costco.com/.product.1070161.html. My instinct is not because it is harvested in the Philippines and/or Vietnam. However, I don’t want to just write them off because they are made in 3rd world countries as you have pointed out above that there are monkey schools with good intentions. I will also ask Costco if they know anything about it. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Gloria! Thanks for reading… I’m not sure about that particular brand of coconut oil. You should be able to contact the company who makes it to ask – and if they don’t give you a clear answer, you can try to find out who their supplier is and then ask the supplier directly… Sometimes it’s a lot of back-and-forth and digging around, but hopefully you’ll be able to get a clear answer… Whenever I’m unable to get a clear answer I err on the side of caution and stop using the product. Good luck – keep me posted in you hear anything. Take care 🙂
